About The Project
The back door opened onto a cracked pad and a step that was too tall. They wanted a place to eat outside without carrying chairs across mud.
The Project Challenge
Water from a side path had been sliding toward the foundation. A deck framed too low would have trapped it. We lifted the frame, kept a clear gap at the house, and pitched the walking surface away from the door. The stair was broken into two easy rises instead of one awkward drop.
The Result
There is a bench for people who are not at the table, a landing that dries, and a stair the grandparents will actually use. Pots sit on the sunny edge. The cedar will silver, and they know that is the plan.
